The Virtual 64th Congregation for the Conferment of degrees and award of diplomas of the University of Nairobi to be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Great Court at 7.30 am.

1. COVID-19 PANDEMIC

  1. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and guideline issued by the Government and the Ministry of Health, the graduation ceremony shall be held virtually. We invite the graduands, students, staff, alumni, parents/guardians and members of the public to follow the ceremony on NTV, UoN websiteYouTube channel and Facebook page.

  2. The maximum number of those who shall physically attend the ceremony at the Great Court is 100 and have been informed.

  3. The event shall commence at 8.00am and end at 10.00am

  4. Screening for Covid-19 symptoms including body temperature check shall be conducted to all those who will attend the event physically.

  5. Hand washing and or Sanitization points shall be provided.

  6. Wearing of Face Masks shall be Mandatory for all participants at the Great Court.

  7. Those attending the ceremony at the Great Court shall be expected to observe physical/social distance of at least 1.5. meters at all times.

  8. Those above 58 years old and with pre-existing conditions are advised to follow the event online.

  9. Those attending the event physically are advise to avoid congregating in groups.

  10. There shall be a standby First Aid team and an ACLS ambulance to address any medical emergencies.

2. (a)  The Taifa Hall and Old Council Chamber shall be used for Robing on Friday, December 11, 2020 and therefore, they shall not be available for other functions on that day.

(b)   The Foyer (ground floor) at the University of Nairobi Towers shall be used for uon@50 photo exhibition from Wednesday December 9, 2020 and as such there shall be restricted access  to the area.

3. PROGRAMME

7.30 a.m. - Guests take their seats; 8.00 a.m. - Chancellor’s Fanfare & Academic Procession.

Reading Deans/Directors and invited guests who wish to join the Academic Procession are requested to assemble at the Robing Room, Taifa Hall (VVIPs) and Old Council Chamber (Reading Deans & Directors) respectively, at 7.30 a.m.

4. PARKING ARRANGEMENTS

To facilitate a smooth traffic flow, vehicles shall be parked as advised according to the Traffic Police directions.  Holders of the University Car-Passes are kindly requested to park at Hyslop and 8-4-4 Parking lots and walk to the Great Court.  

5. SITTING ARRANGEMENT

Guests shall be ushered and guided to their seats by the Protocol Officers.

6. FIRST AID

First Aid and Emergency Services shall be available within the graduation venue at the designated points.  Protocol Officers and First Aiders have been detailed to be on the look out for needy cases.
