Youth Advocacy Africa (YAA) and the University of Nairobi (UoN) have officially signed a Collaborative Agreement to launch AfroVox Forums, a new flagship initiative aimed at amplifying young voices and strengthening youth participation in national development

The agreement, which establishes a long-term partnership, was signed, November 20th, 2025, at the University of Nairobi.

AfroVox Forums is designed to foster civic engagement, leadership development, innovation, and policy dialogue. The initiative brings together young people, experts, and changemakers to discuss solutions to pressing social issues. It also seeks to equip youth with the necessary knowledge, confidence, and platforms to thrive.

Dr. Antony Manyara, HSC, Founder of Youth Advocacy Africa, called the partnership a "new chapter in empowering young Africans to shape the future they want". He emphasized that by working with the University of Nairobi, we are creating spaces where young people can "speak, be heard, and influence real change," declaring AfroVox a "historic movement for youth agency and leadership across the continent".

Prof. Jackson Maalu, DVC (Finance planning and development), University of Nairobi, viewed the agreement as "an investment in the next generation of African thinkers and doers". He stated that joining hands with YAA strengthens UoN's commitment to "nurture voices that will shape policy, innovation, and leadership on this continent".

Elijah Koome, Executive Director of Youth Advocacy Africa, noted that partnering with the University of Nairobi, "a centre of global excellence," strengthens their mission to equip young Africans with the necessary skills and platforms.

Mr. John Orindi, Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Nairobi, affirmed the collaboration aligns perfectly with the institution’s mission of fostering informed, engaged, and innovative youth.

Johnson Ireri Kinyua, Dean of Students, University of Nairobi, highlighted that the collaboration expands opportunities for young people to grow, participate, and make an impact in their communities.

The partnership is slated to host various activities to strengthen civic participation and connect students with policy experts and leaders from across Africa. These activities will include: Dialogues, Workshops, Mentorship sessions and Conferences.

Several dignitaries were present at the ceremony, including Purity Mutua, Vice President of the University of Nairobi Students Association (UNSA) , Karia Tetu, Vice President of the Women Students Welfare Association (WOSWA) , Fridah Kemunto, President Emeritus of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) , and Henry Kurauka, YAA Board Member & Legal Counsel.
