UoN Foundation holds Maiden Cheque presentation event

The Foundations’ cheque presentation ceremony held at the UoN towers was presided over by the Chancellor Dr, Vijoo Rattansi who is also the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, The Vice Chancellor Professor Stephen Kiama, trustee Margret Kobia, Dr. Manilal Premchand Chandaria from the chandaria foundation, Ms. Archana Bursala from the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi fund, Managing Director of Old Mutual Investment Group Mr. Anthony Mwithigia, Acting C.E.O of Chuna DT Sacco Mr. Francis Moi, Ms. Anne Gichoi and Mr. John Orindi of CIPR, Deans of faculties and invited guests.

In his opening remarks, the vice chancellor explained the inspiration behind the creation of the foundation “We have a great number of students admitted, a great faculty who want to put their minds to providing solutions. For solutions to be provided, we need resources” said Prof. Kiama.

 “It is a seed we are planting and we hope it grows into a big tree to provide shade for others in future.” he further added.

Representing donations from Chandaria Foundation, Dr. Manu Chandaria assured the foundation of unwavering support towards the fullfiment of its mandate. He also called upon other likeminded partners to support this noble cause. “The wealth that you make isn’t always yours, it is the wealth of the people of the country.”

The chancellor expressed sincere gratitude for the immense support that the foundation has received since its conceptualization. “I recognize that there is no better way to honor the friendship we have with our partners and all they have done for us here today than to double all they have done for us here today.” Said Dr. Vijoo.

The Foundation also received support from the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi FUND, Chuna DT Sacco, Chartered Institute of Public Relations of the UoN and Old Mutual.

The UoN Foundation  was established to support the University in fulfilling its mission of teaching and learning, research and community service through mobilization of funds using established legal and professional fundraising tools.
