The Ambassador of Cuba to Kenya, H.E. Ines Fors, paid a courtesy call on the UoN Vice Chancellor on Wednesday, 21st May 2025. Amb. Ines announced that she was recently appointed and received her letter from the President in March 2025; the University of Nairobi is one of the institutions that she desired to visit to kick start a long overdue process; a collaboration of the Institution with their Universities. In Particular, she announced a visit by a Cuban delegation from the University of Havana.

Prof. John Mande, the DVC, Human Resource and Administration, who represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jesang Hutchinson, welcomed the collaboration idea, highlighting the international student exchange that involved the Cuban Doctors, and mentioned more areas in which the universities can collaborate on such as joint research programmes, Students and faculty exchange opportunities, Capacity building on AI in Public Health, Food Security, Climate Change

Other areas of collaboration that were highlighted were joint research, Staff and student exchange, cultural immersion programmes, Language, among others.

Present during the Courtesy call were Prof. Jack Odhiambo, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Prof. Oyugi, Ag Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences.
