University of Nairobi staff John Orindi- Director of Corporate Affairs and Head of International Office, and Prof. Stephen Luketero- Chairman of the Department of Mathematics, are attending the international seminar for South -South Cooperation in Developing countries in Nanchang University, 5th-25th June 2025. The seminar, organized by the government of the People's Republic of China in collaboration with Nanchang University, aims at promoting traditional friendship, trade, economic and social cooperation between China and other developing countries.  The participants include scholars, experts, and government officials from Kenya, Uganda, Congo Brazzaville, Gabon , South Sudan , South Africa , Iraq ,Meyamar and Kurdistan.

Nanchang University is a comprehensive University listed among the world first-class disciplines in China and Double First Class. It's the only 211 project national key University in Jiangxi province which is co-constructed by the Chinese Ministry of Education and Jiangxi Provincial government. It is a comprehensive University with over 50,000 students. The exchange is also expected to deepen both academic and students exchanges between the University of Nairobi and Nanchang University (NCU). The south -South Seminar falls within the ambit of the Belt and Road initiatives between People's Republic of China and Developing countries.

This and other trainings  are  part  of  China's soft power antics for achieving harmonious and shared  prosperity in a community of nations. China believes that promoting international understanding of China's international goals and development path is critical in promoting global peace and prosperity through  win- win international cooperation. China is keen to portray itself as a partner rather than a global hegemon.
