UoN partners with Hanbat University

Prof. George Magoha, VC, UoN and Prof. Chul Woo Lee, Hanbat University exchange signed copies of the MOU

A partnership between the University of Nairobi (UoN) and Hanbat National University will see the two institutions collaborate on areas of mutual interest.

The Memorandum of Understanding which was signed today at UoN will mainly focus on economics, engineering and business disciplines. The collaboration will include research, staff and student exchanges as well as development of academic programmes.

During the signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. George Magoha said that the partnership was timely and relevant. He said that human capacity development in Kenya needs to be improved. He called on the key stakeholders in the collaboration to look at different areas of postdoctoral studies and design tailor made academic courses. He highlighted the importance of academic collaborations as universities are expected to train and benchmark against one another.

Hanbat National University, Vice President, Prof. Chul Woo Lee, said that it was important for the two institutions to tap into each other’s strengths. According to Prof. Lee, Hanbat is strong in collaborations with universities and industry.  He said that his team is ready and willing to explore other possible areas of collaboration with UoN.

Prof. Peter Mbithi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Finance, Prof. B.N.K. Njoroge, Principal, College of Architecture and Engineering, Prof. Simon Mitema, Director, Centre for International Programmes and Linkages, Mr. Stephen Nzuve, Dean, School of Business and Prof. Jane Mariara, Director, School of Economics were among those who witnessed the signing of the MOU.
