Central Bank Governor gives lecture at UON

The School of Business in collaboration with the School of Economics recently held a public lecture with Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, Governor, Central Bank of Kenya as the guest speaker. The lecture was targeting the School of Business PhD class.

The guest speaker made a presentation on ‘Linking entrepreneurial innovation, increasing productivity and greater competitiveness with economic growth.’

From an interesting point to view, Prof. Ndung’u drew a relationship between different technological innovations in Kenya and the kind of impacts they are having on the country’s economic growth. He talked about how innovations create a market that is competitive as it leads to changes in policy terrain and rent capture.

On macroeconomics he said that it has both positive and negative implications on any economy including opportunities for growth for small businesses. He acknowledged that entrepreneurship is important for any economy and the entrepreneur is an agent of change.

In attendance was Prof. E.N. Njeru, Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, lecturers and PhD students.

UoN is inviting industry! good. Some of us would have wanted to see Bill Gates invited when we were students. Consider doing the same in other programmes and even go international.
