UoN Lecturer publishes book on M-PESA

Tonny K. Omwansa, a lecturer at the School of Computing and Informatics, University of Nairobi and Nicholas P. Sullivan a fellow at the Fletcher School in USA have published "Money, Real Quick", a book on M-PESA and MobileMoney.
The book expounds on the innovation, the execution and impact of M-PESA, the mobile money service operated in Kenya by Safaricom and is now available in several other countries, including Tanzania and South Africa.
The nine chapter book is based on an extensive field work and provides a comprehensive, easy to read broad-range narrative of a technological innovation being exported from Africa.
The authors thank the Rockefeller Foundation and GSM Association(the global mobile phone association) for the logistical support they gave in getting the book completed and published. The research and writing was accelerated thanks to a joint Bellagio Fellowships from The Rockefeller Foundation, which allowed the authors to work together for a month at the Foundation’s Bellagio Center (Villa Serbelloni) in Bellagio, Italy, on Lake Como. The book was published by the publishing arm of the Guardian in UK.
The book is currently available as a kindle version and will soon be available in bookshops.
