The University of Nairobi has formally launched the Student Affairs Management Board. The board to be chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Affairs, is charged with the responsibility of managing students’ welfare in the entire University.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Affairs has been in operation since 1st February, 2011, and it was his desire that the Student Management Board plays a significant role in the management of Student Affairs. He emphasized that the expectations of the University Management Board and council are high standards in regard to proper management of students’ affairs, discipline, sporting activities, security and conduct of elections among others, to minimize potential points of conflict between students and management. The board will be chaired by Prof. Isaac Mbeche, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Affairs.

Quite timely, these students have multiple dimensional problems, especially social, the dean of students needs close to ten times the staff they have presently
