Stacey Chumba, a 3rd year student at the Faculty of Law was crowned Miss Earth Kenya at a colourful event held on the 25th September, 2021; Miss Earth is a global competition with a focus on environmental preservation.

Miss Chumba managed to beat 13 contestants in the tightly contested finale getting the opportunity to represent Kenya in the international leg of the competition slated for November 2021 in the Philippines.

Stacey Chumba promised to follow in the footsteps of trailblazers like the late Prof. Wangari Maathai; a dedicated environmental, social and political activist, by lending her efforts towards conserving the planet and combating climate change.

“This is a  great opportunity and I’m very excited. I promise to follow in the footsteps of those before me like the late Wangari Maathai in conservation. I don’t think words can express my gratitude to the Lord Almighty and every single person, who supported me. Thank you all. I also want to thank myself, for never giving up, for never giving into doubt and fear and most importantly, for believing in myself. Thank you.”

 

The University of Nairobi community wishes Miss Chumba all the best as she represents team Kenya at the Philippines and commends her for nurturing her talent.
