Prof. Mutoro Henry W. College principal (CEES) Launches the project website

Wednesday 29 June 2011: As part of our endeavors to respond to societal needs, the University of Nairobi launched a Masters Programme in Peace Education (MA in Peace Education)

The development of this programme was motivated by the need to address peace and human security challenges in the region. The programme will produce professionals at the university level who will then spearhead the training of teachers to handle the newly introduced peace education in the Kenyan school curriculum

The programme curriculum was developed by the Education for Change: Developing Higher Education Programmes in Peace and Human Security in Uganda and Kenya (Pehs Project). The purpose of the project is to enhance capacity & professional expertise in the field of peace education in the East African region. The project is a collaboration of three institutions; University of Nairobi, Kenya, Makerere University, Uganda and Coventry University, UK

Visit the project website for more information: http://education4change.uonbi.ac.ke/

Market oriented programs, is the way to go. after PEV 2007/8 this program will not only be important to Kenya but the whole of the Great Lakes regions where we still have strive. Peace is a prerequisite for development and the need to give peace education to our people is important for healing, reconciliation and moving forward to build sustainable peace for development.
