EUC launches strategic plan and celebrates ISO Certification

There was pomp, colour and celebrations as Embu University College (EUC), a constituent college of the University of Nairobi (UoN), officially launched its Strategic Plan for the period 2014-2018 and received its ISO 9001:2008 certificate.

The ceremony was presided over by the University’s Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi and brought together the management from EUC, UoN, students and local leaders and residents.

While congratulating Embu University College on its achievements thus far, Dr. Rattansi, commended the University College Council, Management, staff and students on their vision and the drive to make EUC better. “Indeed, it is a sign of sacrifice and commitment by all the stakeholders of the College towards ensuring that the institution’s management systems and processes are fully harnessed for quality service provision,” she said. DR. Rattansi also noted that the Strategic Plan reflects the priorities of an upcoming academic giant as well as the aspirations of an academically ambitious nation and the mother University.

Dr. Margaret Gikuhi, Chairperson, EUC Council, commended the EUC team on the achievements noting that the Strategic Plan and the ISO Certification are the foundations that will guide the college towards becoming a fully-fledged University. Dr. Gikuhi noted that the Strategic Plan is the blue print of the University College and that it documents clear pathways and strategies of development and expansion of the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi challenged the team to commit towards continuous improvement of the processes especially in service delivery. Prof. Mbithi reassured EUC management of the University of Nairobi’s commitment towards supporting the College until it acquires the status of a fully-fledged University.

The Principal, EUC, Prof. Daniel Mugendi described the occasion as a historic one in the history of the University College. Prof. Mugendi said that the EUC team will remain committed to its vision and mission while encompassing its core values. Efficient and continuous improvement of service delivery is key among the issues the EUC is working towards realization.

Dr. Idle Farah, Chairman, UoN Council, EUC Deputy Principals- Prof. Kiplagat Kotut and Prof. Eucharia Kenya and Embu Senator, Lenny Kivuti, are among those who spoke during the event.
