UNSA Outgoing Team Officially Hands Over to the Current UNSA Council

The University of Nairobi Management through the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs took the time to appreciate and recognize the outgoing first ever University of Nairobi Students’ Association Council through a luncheon on Friday June 7, 2019

During his keynote address, the UoN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi appreciated the leadership that was the first to reign in the new regime. He remarked, “I am a blessed Vice Chancellor because you blessed me with a new beginning. I have seen you take up your mandate and fully delivered it.”

“It’s not once or twice I got comments from different people about how peaceful the University has become, we have held two peaceful elections. Peace is an important ingredient for development in the society,” he emphasized.

He urged the incoming UNSA team to work with the systems that the outgoing team had developed, “You have been elected to be part of the leadership of the University; challenges will always be there, sometimes monumental, work together and provide leadership”

Antony Manyara, Outgoing UNSA Chair noted that they have had a great year with a great team. He appreciated the administration for the support and transition from the old to the new regime. He urged the administration to continue supporting the new UNSA leadership citing student’s leadership has a lot of challenges.

Ms Mwangi Mvurya, the UNSA Chair appreciated the work of the old regime, she picked the value of teamwork and challenged her team to follow suit.

While passing the vote of thanks, Ms Rebecca Kemunto, outgoing UNSA Vice Chair challenged the sitting council to be open to learning, to come out of their comfort zones and correctly represent the best University brand in East and Central Africa.

Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Deputy Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and Father Wamugunda, Dean of Students also spoke during the luncheon.
