The University of Nairobi wishes to inform all those students from the above four Colleges who qualified for the award of various degrees and diplomas at the end of last academic year (2014/2015) and members of the public, that the 53rd Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 commencing at 9.00 a.m. at the Chancellor’s Court next to Central Catering Unit, Main Campus.  The following is pertinent information:
 

UoN Alumni Association's 10th Anniversary

The University of Nairobi Alumni Association will be marking 10 years Anniversary on February 5, 2015. The Association was officially launched on 5th February 2005 by then Minister of Education, the late Prof. George Saitoti, EGH.   Since then, the Association has played a key role in enhancing the relationship between the Alumni and the University.

As a way of celebrating a decade of service to members and alma mater, the Association has organized a series of activities to mark this auspicious ceremony with a final activity being a Gala Dinner for all UoN Alumni members at Great Court, Main Campus on Friday, 6th February 2015 from 6:00- 9:00pm.

The Chief Guest will be Dr. James Mwangi, Group CEO, Equity Bank Group.  All alumni members are welcome!

UoN Student eyes world Merit Ambassador position

Nyantika Joshua Mokua, a second year student at the School of Physical Sciences has made it to the final 120 in the race for the World Merit’s Ambassador. Nyantika beat over 60,000 other applicants to make it to the second round of the tightly contested opportunity.

World Merit is a global platform that recognizes the efforts of young people between the ages of 18 and 30, and seeks to reward them. This is achieved by requesting them to share their ideas, dreams and visions on an online platform. Through this, young people are exposed to opportunities which expose them to funding opportunities and exposure to the world. The areas of interest are entrepreneurship, culture, politics, media, science and technology and business leadership.

 

Varsity bids farewell to retiring secretary after 42 years of service

The University of Nairobi recently said goodbye to one of its illustrious and longest serving employees Mrs. Grace Wangu Hinga.  Mrs. Hinga has worked in the University since 1971.

Her first work station was in the Faculty of Education but she also had a stint in the Institute of Adult Studies and the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences before being identified to work in the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s office in 1984.  She has since her posting, performed tirelessly in that office, during which period she has served six Deputy Vice-Chancellors.  In the process she moved up the ranks from the position of Assistant Secretary to the position of Executive Secretary.

IBM Partners with KENET/UON to Launch Corporate Services

The IBM Corporate Service Core (IBM CSC) which was launched on 4th July 2011 at the new KENET training room at the Jomo Kenyatta Memorial Library University of Nairobi, gave their first Interim report on 20 July, 2011.

The launch event was attended by representatives from various KENET member institutions who inluded Vice Chancellors, Principals and Heads of ICT. The guest of Honor was Prof. Crispin Kiamba who is the Parmanent Secretary in the ministry of Higher Education, Science.
