We perceive a world that balances the relations of economic systems, social structures and the natural resources we depend on; while allowing each component to thrive. Our collective need is to have regard for the well being of our immediate and distant environment. We take responsibility over our continent to develop while allowing future generations an equal opportunity to enjoy its beauty and utilize its richness. We are an action oriented group striving for positive changes at all levels. We are the victims and agents of change through innovations and a commitment to positive change. We are availing the Youths with a platform to identify their problems and Solutions. The Mission of SFGS is to share in aims of the WSCSD in seeking to actively promote the incorporation of Sustainability and sustainable development at every stage of Education, research, business and public policy bearing in mind the desire to achieve. We have an extended commitment to provide a student driven dimension towards the realization of Millennium Development Goals. (MDGs) in our focus to improve social welfare, reduce poverty and human suffering within our immediate communities. We do this through involving our members in leadership forums where they get to acquire all the important skills being leaders and taking action to improve the social welfare of the community. The Activities Undertaken by SFGS comprises but not limited to: 1. Discursive forums for members 2. Public forums 3. Research 4. MDG oriented programs 5. Publications and Newsletters/Magazines

PUBLIC FORUMS

Being an organization focused on issues in the community at large, SFGS will seek to involve the public into its activities as much as possible. In this respect, SFGS will therefore seek an Advocacy and Awareness oriented dimension to involve members of the public and the entire student community in open discursive events transcending related topics. Public Forums will be held in partnership with local development organizations and members of the civil society when collaborating with the university administration facilities. With such an approach we believe it will be easier to richly tackle the issues facing the community. This will also include publication and Newsletters dissemination to participants

RESEARCH

There will be researches undertaken by members of the group both individually and jointly with other developmental organizations. The aim of the research will mainly be aimed at bringing the members into practical encounters with reality on ground in the field of sustainability. Through research SFGS also hopes to develop innovation on new sustainable ways of living to replace the unsustainable ones. The researches will mainly focus on:

· Energy implications at the University administration levels/ SWA realization

· Energy/ water consumption of the individual student s levels; alternative to sustainable energy consumption based on data and social response – behavioral response,

· Impact assessment of solid waste disposal on environment in City Rivers and Green spaces; Influence and design remedial program jointly with local government and authorities involved with contextual items of research. Ministry of Health, Ministry of Local Government, City council of Nairobi.

· Research On UN MDGs and impart underlying extend of public awareness and correlative impacts on development process at local/ national and international levels.
