SONU Chairman nominated as Bayer ambassador

The Chairman of Students’ Organization of University of Nairobi (SONU), Mr. David Osiany has been nominated as the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy BYEE of East Africa to the United Nations. The BYEE programme is run by Bayer International in collaboration with United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP). Under this programme, Bayer which is the major sponsor of UNEP’s youth activities, nominates 50 envoys worldwide to be their ambassadors annually. The nominated envoys meet at Bayer headquarters in Leverkusen, Germany, to share their experiences and project knowledge.

Mr. Osiany together with his fellow nominee Beth Wambui Mbote will travel to Germany for the informational trip later this month accompanied by the media nominee Jack Omamo of Homeboyz.  The student leader revealed that he is passionate about the environment and understands that the future is meaningless and empty if people do not take care of the environment.

While abroad, he is also expected to attend COP15 ‘Seal the Deal’ campaign in Copenhagen, Denmark in December, where world leaders will make a declaration on how to curb climate change.

Osiany who early this become the first second year to be elected SONU Chairman, clinched the nomination despite competition from various university students in the region.
