Youth Enterpreneurship Forum at TICAD VI
The University of Nairobi in partnership with Ministry of Youth, Gender and Public Service, Africa Development Bank and United Nations University, Tokyo, co-hosted the TICAD Youth Entrepreneurship Forum.
The Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe and President of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta graced the occasion. The Conference was attended by 34 Presidents and Heads of Governments with over 10,000 delegates in attendance.
The forum brought together young entrepreneurs and researchers who are expected to take the lead in promoting sustainable industrialization. The launching of this new initiative is expected to lead to the development of a network of entrepreneurs and researchers in Africa, and entrepreneurial courses and a graduate program (Africa MBA). The results of this program will be reported in TICAD VII in Japan in 2019. The future of an industrialized Africa will highly depend on the catalyzation of the next generation is support of Africa's inclusive growth and development.
TICAD Youth Entrepreneurship Forum, an initiative set to become part of the TICAD Process signifies a new dawn, a time when Africa is increasingly taking charge of her socio-economic and environmental development. The Forum brought together more than 50 youth entrepreneurs and young researchers, who shared perspectives on how to catalyze the next generation for Africa's sustainable industrialization.
The forum, which was a first of its kind was graced by Dr. Akiwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Madam Sicily Kariuki, Minister for Youth and Gender Services and several distinguished guests and participants at KICC during the TICAD VI Conference held in Nairobi on August 27-28, 2016.
