Varsity launches Nairobi Innovation Week roadmap

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has officially unveiled the Nairobi Innovation Week 2016 roadmap.

This year’s event, themed ‘Partnership for Innovation That Truly Impact People and Societies,’ will be held from August 1st to 5th, 2016.

While presiding over the launch, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi, said that activities for the Nairobi Innovation Week 2016 will include pre-events, workshops, boot camps, keynote presentations, panel discussions, exhibitions, pitching platforms, graduation of startups as well as dissemination of research publications.

“There will be international and local key guests who will facilitate workshops and give keynote presentations besides participating in panel discussions,” he said. “The event will have a regional outlook and will attract over 1500 delegates comprising policy makers, entrepreneurs, innovators, academia, investors and members of the general public.”

Already the University UNICEF has been named the Lead Partner for Nairobi Innovation Week 2016.

Prof. Henry Mutoro, ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Production and Extension, said that the 2016 Innovation Week seeks to champion relevant policy discussions on innovation within institutions and the country, showcase/exhibit and recognize innovations by researchers, incubatees and organizations, promote practical skills necessary to create innovations that truly impact on people and societies and provide a support mechanism for innovations that has been developed to gain traction and scale.
