The University of Nairobi (UoN) is participating in the 14th exhibition by Kenyan universities which kicked off on March 17, 2016 in Mombasa County.

The 3 day event is organized by Commission for Universities Education (CUE) and brings together public and private universities as well as constituent colleges in the country.

The objective of the exhibition is to provide a platform where institutions of higher learning can show case their programmes and research prowess as they reach out to prospective students.

This year’s exhibition themed, ‘Celebrating Expansion through Diversity and Integration’ has brought together 41 institutions of higher learning and is being held at the Flamingo Beach Resort and Spa.

The University of Nairobi stand continues to draw prospective students with visitors seeking to find out how the institution has maintained its leadership position in Africa and the world.

While touring the University stand during the opening ceremony, the Chief Guest Mr. Tendai Lewa Mutana, the Mombasa County Executive member in charge of Education, challenged UoN to continue its mentorship role to other institutions of higher learning in the country.

On his part, the Cabinet Secretary, Education, Dr. Fred Matiang’i in a speech read on his behalf by the Chairman, CUE, Prof. Henry Thairu, said his ministry supports the measures being put in place by the respective professional bodies in accrediting institutions of higher learning. He however, called upon the professional bodies to work with the institutions and assist them in having their programmes meet the required professional threshold. This, Matiang’i said, will position Kenya as a higher learning hub in the region.

Visitors to the university stand have an opportunity to savor the cutting edge programmes and research findings as they interact with professors and researchers on a one on one basis.

During the opening ceremony, UoN was visited by the Chairman, CUE, Prof. Henry Thairu and Chief Executive Officer, CUE, Prof. David Some, who were received by the Principal, College of Biological and Physical Sciences, Prof. Bernard Aduda, who was representing the Vice-Chancellor.

The exhibition officially closes on March 19, 2016.
