United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Secretary General, Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi visited the University of Nairobi and shared how the two organizations can work together to further the innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit among students.

Dr. Kituyi visited the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi on May, 29, 2017.

Speaking during the courtesy call, Dr. Kituyi explained the desire to harness and train future entrepreneurs and offer mentorship to the next generation of business magnets. This he said will be accomplished via scholarship opportunities to the UNCTAD virtual university. 

Also discussed was capacity building of students.

Kenya is currently abuzz with innovation and entrepreneurship development. Kenya is home to several innovations and it is in this regard that the next business moguls will be nurtured to create jobs and help the country develop as it gears towards achievement of Vision2030.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi welcomed the initiative saying UNCTAD partnership will add to several partnership that University of Nairobi boasts of. It is via partnerships and collaborations what the University hopes to achieve its transformative agenda.  The Vice-Chancellor, welcomed Dr. Kituyi to give a public lecture as well. He will add to the profiles of prominent people who have been to the University of Nairobi and given public lectures. Such people include: Barack Obama, former President, United States of America, Matteo Renzi, Italian Prime Minister, Angela Markel, German Chancellor, Pope Francis, among others. Prof. Mbithi noted that such renowned speakers stimulate the thinking of students and are always welcome to engage the University fraternity.
