The Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Dr. Liu Xianfa and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi share a light moment during the meeting.

The Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Dr. Liu Xianfa on August 28, 2017, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi ahead of a high level delegation meeting with Tsinghua University.

The University of Nairobi (UoN) and Tsinghua University are scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding on Friday, September 1, 2017 in Nairobi.

“As an embassy, we are excited to see the fruits of the deliberations between the two universities,” said the Ambassador. “We hope to create more partnerships and collaborations between UoN and other universities.”

Prof. Mbithi appreciated the support the Chinese Embassy in Kenya has accorded the University over the years.

“Universities need to prepare for the new force in the education sector. Education is becoming digitized and universities must revise the curriculum and rehabilitate the existing infrasture to accommodate these changes,” he said. “Therefore, partnerships that are geared towards these efforts are welcome.”

UoN has planned for meetings and campus tours for the visiting Tsinghua University delegation.
