DAAD will be offering the University of Nairobi upto Seven (7) Masters Scholarships and upto Seven (7) Ph.D Scholarships for the 2016/2017 academic year, eligible in the following Schools/Centres.

  • School of Physical Sciences
  • School of Economics
  • Centre for Advanced Studies in Environmental Law and Policy (CASELAP)

Eligible applicants must have completed their last university degree less than 6 years ago at the time of application.  The applicants will start their studies in September 2016 in the following programmes:-

General guidelines to applicants

(1)     Applicants must send their application documents (a copy of the application form for Postgraduate Admission) together with all the DAAD Application documents listed on the Information Sheet for Scholars, 2016/2017 to their Deans/Director of Schools/Centre.

(2)     Doctor of Philosophy applicants must attach Research proposals that demonstrate relevance to development.  The Ph.D proposals will be scanned for plagiarism.

(3)     Duration and commencement: Scholarships are available for up to maximum of two years (Master) and three years (PhD) respectively. The scholarship will be initially granted for one year and may be extended upon individual request and receipt of a complete application by using the provided form.

(4)     Equal opportunities: Female candidates and candidates from less privileged regions or groups as well as candidates with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
