About the keynote/guest speaker:

Dr. Satyendra Singh is Director of Centre for Emerging Markets, and Professor of Marketing and International Business in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Winnipeg, Canada. His research interests lie in the area of emerging markets with particular emphasis on Africa and Asia .

He has published in journals such as Thunderbird International Business Review, Industrial Marketing Management , Journal of Services Marketing , Services Industries Journal, Journal of Global Marketing, Management Decision , among others, and presented papers at international conferences such as American Marketing Association , Academy of Marketing Science/World Congress, British Academy of Management , European Marketing Academy , among others. He has authored Market Orientation, Corporate Culture and Business Performance ( Ashgate , UK , 2004), and Business Practices in Emerging and Re-emerging Markets ( Palgrave , USA , 2008), and edited Handbook of Business Practices and Growth in Emerging Markets (World Scientific , Singapore , 2010).

He is also the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Business and Emerging Markets.

Julius Kangogo Kipng’etich

About the keynote/guest speaker:

Julius Kangogo Kipng'etich joined KWS as the Director in December 2004. Before this, he was the Managing Director of Investment Promotion Council.

Kip, as he prefers to be called, is an ardent believer in continuous improvement. His tenure at the KWS has seen him transform the government parastatal into a serious business outfit.

In a bid to ensure World Class Parks, Kip has greatly improved the management of our parks, while giving conservation a strong scientific approach. All these measures have resulted to safer and more pleasurable experiences within our wildlife protected areas.

A Starehe Boys' Alumnus, Kip has over 17 years experience in Business Process Re-engineering and Change Management.

He was Director of the Student Welfare Authority, University of Nairobi , where he also lectured in the Department of Management Science.

He is a member of the Kenya Tourist Board, and serves on the boards of Kenya Forest Service, Equity Bank, Police Oversight Board, Moi Girls' Eldoret, Starehe Girls' School, Starehe Boys' Centre and the Kenya Red Cross Society. He is a leading member of the Mau Task Force and the Steering Committee for the Marketing of Kenya Stadia.

He is also the patron of AISEC – University of Nairobi .

Kip is the acclaimed winner of the Chief Executive Officer of the Year Award, COYA 2009 and has two Awards from the Head of State namely: EBS and CBS.

His hobbies and interests? Philanthropy, systems theory, mountain climbing (climbed to Point Lenana, Mount Kenya ), traveling, reading, golf and classical music.

About the keynote/guest speaker:

Dr. Wakiuru Wamwara-Mbugua is an associate professor of marketing at the Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, United States. Dr. Wamwara-Mbugua earned her bachelor's degree in computer science from LeMoyne Owen College, MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, and her Ph.D. from the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis.

Dr. Wamwara-Mbugua's dissertation won the Association of Consumer Research Jagdish Sheth 2002 Dissertation Award for the cross-cultural category (only two awards are given per year). Her primary areas of research interest are in the areas of international marketing, cross-cultural consumer behavior and immigrant acculturation. Dr. Wamwara-Mbugua has presented her research at international conferences in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. She has given a lecture in Germany.

Dr. Wamwara-Mbugua has published her research in the Journal Business Research, Journal of Consumer Behavior, Event Management Journal, Advances in Consumer Research, Journal of Global Business Management , Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Studies, African Journal of Business Management, Journal of International Management Studies and in proceedings of international, national and regional conferences.

Dr. Wamwara-Mbugua speaks four different languages and has traveled to over ten countries. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Epsilon International Business Honor Society, the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and a Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars. She is also a member of the Association for Consumer Researchers and the PhD project.

Prior to commencing a life in academia she worked for the Kenyan government, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN–HABITAT) .

 

Prof. Kempe Ronald Hope

Keynote/Guest speech on: "Corruption and Development in Kenya"

About the keynote/guest speaker:

Prof. Kempe Ronald Hope, Sr. is a UNDP Senior Governance Adviser.

He was previously the Principal Economic Adviser and Manager of the Governance and Economic Management Assistance Program (GEMAP) at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Liberia and prior to that he was the Director of the Development Policy and Management Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

Prof. Hope was also the Founding Director of the SADC Center of Specialization in Public Administration and Management (CESPAM) and Professor of Development Studies at the University of Botswana. He has published extensively on African and international development issues with more than 100 articles in refereed international journals and more than 15 books and monographs.

His books include Poverty, Livelihoods, and Governance in Africa: Fulfilling the Development Promise (Palgrave Macmillan, 2008); From Crisis to Renewal: Development Policy and Management in Africa (Brill Publishers, 2002); Guidelines for Enhancing Good Economic and Corporate Governance in Africa (UNECA, 2002) – with A. About the keynote/guest speaker:

Eng. Joseph K Njoroge, who was born in 1958, has wide experience in power engineering and management.   He joined KPLC in 1980 and rose through the ranks to become Managing Director in June 2007.  Eng. Njoroge holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and Master of Business Administration with a major in strategic management. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK, a Registered Consulting Engineer, and is also a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya. He is also Chairman of the MBA Chapter of University of Nairobi Alumni Association.
