This symposium will address a number of issues related to ethical behavior in conducting research, including both animal and human topics. We will discuss why a high level of animal care is essential to quality data and the important elements to take into account when building an animal facility from scratch. The panel will also discuss aspects of ethical behavior in the lab including topics such as: data generation and presentation, what information should be provided in CV's and applications for scholarships, manipulation of data via Photoshop, what is plagiarism? what is conflict of interest? The subjects will be discussed by lecture, case study, and using breakout small groups.
