Functions and Responsibilities

KNH/UON -ERRC shall provide independent, competent, and timely review of the science and ethics of proposed studies. The KNH/UON -ERC shall in its composition, procedures, and decision making, be independent from political, institutional, professional, and market influences.

KNH/UON-ERRC shall be responsible for carrying out the review of proposed research before the commencement of research. The committee shall have to ensure that there is regular evaluation of the ethics of ongoing studies that receive a positive decision.

KNH/UON-ERRC shall be responsible for acting in the full interest of potential research participants and concerned communities, taking into account the interest and needs of the researchers, and having due regard for the requirements of relevant regulatory agencies and applicable laws.

The KNH/UON-ERRC shall perform initial and continual reviews of the studies according to the written operating procedures, and maintain records of activities and minutes of meetings.

The KNH/UON-ERRC shall notify promptly, and in writing, all research study-related decisions and opinions, specifying the reasons for each.
